Rafael Amargo

Rafael is an internationally recognized choreographer and dancer who has inherited the purest flamenco style from his legendary maestros but has imaginatively incorporated other types of dance into his repertoire throughout the years, including the lessons he learned while attending the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York in 1996. Thus, the AMARGO SEAL has been established as a typical mark on the musical choreography scene. As far as prizes are concerned, he has been awarded 4 Max Prizes of the Scenic Arts to the best Male Dancer for “El Amor Brujo”, “Poeta en Nueva York” and “Amargo” and to the best dance show for Amargo. He has been Finalist in Lawrence Olivier Awards as Best Musical Choreographer 2008 for the West End Musical Zorro, Premio Positano Leonide Massine de Danza 2002, and Spanish heritage by the International Dance Council by UNESCO.
