Turn On Your Mic: A Virtual Teen Theater Project, grades 6-12

  • This virtual collaboration class invites young artists all throughout Atlanta to create a multi-media response piece to our current circumstances.
  • Using Zoom and Flipgrid (both accessed through phone, tablet, or computer), young artists will gather to check in on one another, respond artistically to prompts about how life has shifted, and play ensemble building games. 
  • A virtual sharing on the final day of class to share our creation, joy, and community. 

Duration: 2 hours, 6 sessions
Tuition: $180
Maximum of 10 students.

Maya Lawrence is a NYC born- Atlanta based multidisciplinary artist, specializing in theater, performance, and poetry. As a teaching artist, facilitator, and moderator with an audience range from newborns to 100 years old, she uses her superpowers of creativity, curiosity and compassion to facilitate theatre-based experiences for youth, families, individuals and corporations in pursuit of becoming the most authentic, empathetic versions of themselves. As a proud Spelman alumna in residence at the Tony Award winning Alliance Theatre, Maya is on a mission to to liberate the world through art in the pursuit of Love!

Sam Provenzano is a teaching artists and director from Las Vegas, NV. She has an MFA  from UT Austin and a BA in Acting. She loves creating work with and for young people. Recently, she assistant directed Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed at the Alliance Theatre and the workshop reading of the new play, The Use of Wildflowers at Theatre Emory. She is excited to explore digital theater making with young artists!
