Historical Figures Come To Life

Historical Figures Come To Life allows students to research a selected historical figure, write a monologue in first person, design a costume, develop voice and movement tools of the actor, and then perform the monologue in-character. The teacher also develops his or her own drama integrated strategies that can be replicated in other classrooms or subjects.

Historical Figures Come To Life serves 1st - 5th grades. It is a 12 session residency, with 10 in-class sessions co-taught by a teaching artist and the classroom teacher. Two planning sessions provide opportunities for the teacher and teaching artist to collaborate on learning goals and standards and to devise and refine the lesson and unit plans, learning extensions, and assessments.

the-dancing-granny

We've officially hit summer here in Atlanta, and while temperatures are rising outside, we're staging the hottest dance party inside: The Dancing Granny. But with all there is to do this season, why should you grab the kids and come see the show?

A little known fact about the Alliance?
"We are the largest producing theatre in Georgia and if you break out our education department and its shows, that would be the second."

What is your hope for the future?
"For myself, I want to be happy. Motivation to succeed. For humanity, I wish for there to be more understanding, without disregard or hate."
